Donation pages - how can I track a specific page and the donations?

Options

I need to create a donation page for a capital campaign so specific thank you letters will be sent and all the donations that come through the page are tagged for the campaign. Is this as simple as creating another donation page or is there something I need to do so that when the gift is made it is tagged in the system and we know how to credit the money?

  • Hi Danielle,

Good question! There are a couple of different ways to approach this. In your Convio donation tools, you can either create a new donation form , or a donation campaign in order to track these gifts separately . In Convio donations, we use the term "campaign" to describe a group of related donation forms (not to be confused with the capital campaign you're kicking off). In most cases, just copying an existing donation form within an existing campaign is going to be the easiest way to get started. When you copy at the campaign level, you copy over all the donation forms that are currently a part of that campaign. What you're describing sounds like just one new donation form. No matter which approach you take, you'll want to start by copying an existing campaign or form and modifying it.

Either approach will identify each donation accordingly in your donation transaction reports. You can filter your donation reports either by campaign or by donation form to see/download just the donations of interest.

With your new form, you can go in and modify the HTML at the top of the form, then update the autoresponders to have the right acknowledgement text for these gifts. Also, you'll want to link to this form in a variety of ways that may include:

    • A special link or button on your homepage

    • A text link at the top of your current donation form to direct donors to this specific form for this kind of gift

    • A "vanity" url for offline promotion that points directly to this donation form (e.g. http://www.bgcma.org/capital)
