How can I use pagebuilder page to restrict ticket sales to those who enter code?

Options

I have an ticketed event that I want posted in my calandar for public view. But for the first week I want to allow only users who enter a special code access to purchase tickets. After a week I will allow all users to purchase remaining tickets. I think that I can use a pagebuilder page to accomplish this because there are some pages created for this by a past manager (one password entry page, one error message page). Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

  • Hey Michele,

This sounds like an interesting idea. I can think of two ways to accomplish this. You can setup promotion codes on ticket types and you can setup security categories on tickets in a ticketed event. Here is how this would work. To make it such that people must login to see the ticket level you would want to change the security category to a protected category and create a group of constituents that have access to content in that category. This would provide a level of authentication. Then when you are ready to open registration to everyone you can switch the security category to general and everyone will have access to it logged in or not.

The second option would be to enter a promotion code on the ticket level. The only way the ticket will show up then is if the promotion code is specified in a link that an individual clicks or enters. The issue with this is someone could share the link with a friend and the friend could use it as well. If this isn't an issue for you I would suggest this second method. To create a link using the promotion code on the page where you want the link use the links drop down menu in the WYSIWYG editor then choose options next to the ticket level link instead of insert. This will allow you to put in the promotion code you created when creating the event.
