How to report on donors who gave, lapsed and gave again

Hello,

How can you report on lapsed donors who gave at various dates (so don't know exactly when was their last gifts) and gave again for the first time in x years ?

The fundraising recapture report on NXT only analyzes constitutents who gave this FY after more than 15 months since their previous gift within the past five years. What if i need to go further than that?

    Is there a particular time span you want to evaluate? As in, donors who did this in the last 10 years? I'm hoping someone has a better answer than mine, because I would do this in Excel. I'd use a query to group all donors in the last ten years. I would use the sub operator to merge queries to remove donors with consistent giving (likely, I'd do this a few times - subtract donors with consecutive year giving, subtract donors who gave multiple years in the last 5 years, etc.), and then I'd export summary information columns with total year giving for each of the ten years and work the rest in Excel.

    Like I said, I'm hoping someone else has an easier solution for you, but that would be my process.

    In database view there is a Analytical Reports → Comparative Report that allows you to set separate time periods to compare. Would that help what you are looking for?

    If not, then I'd say you need to use Export and manipulate the info in excel.
