Deduping Email entries

Options

I have a lot of email entries that are duplicates. I want to delete the duplicates in bulk. How can I do that? I have tried to export the Phone ImportID but it is not present in the query builder. I thought I will mark the duplicates with a Phone Type ‘TO BE DELETED’, export the set (to Access) and reimport. But how can TRE knows which Phone-entry I am referring to, if there is no PhoneID?

@Martin Drenth (can't get ‘mention’ to pull for your name), well done finding the answer. As you're finding there are a number of fields available in Export that are not available in Query. ?

  • You can also, weirdly, export phone IDs by creating a constituent phone import and selecting the option “create import file”. It'll make sure you've included all the required fields (e.g. IDs) that you'll need to import the data back in.

YES - this is a great option! If you need to import anyway, just start with that rather than setting up an Export and then setting up an Import.

Sometimes it can't be helped - you might need information on your Export file to help you make the right changes to your import file - but not always. And there are some occasions where the ImportID that you need is ONLY available in the “create an import file” area.
