Why are my images visible in Firefox but not Internet Explorer?

Options

If an image is saved with the color mode CMYK instead of the IE firendly RGB, you will get a red X in a box instead of an image. CMYK was designed more for print work and Internet Explorer (IE) has problems rendering these images no matter what version you have.

The solution: Open the images in your photo editor software and save them in the RGB mode.

  • Another typical thing like this is when JPGs are saved at a resolution higher than 72ppi. This often comes from using photoshop "Save as" instead of "Save for web"
