NXT Lists - who are they leaving out? And WHY?

Options
I created a new list in NXT - based on a Query in the database (which I trust.) That query has 23,566 constituents. I do not filter the NXT list at all - and not intentionally - and it comes up with only 16,325 constituents. Why doesn't the NXT list acknowledge and include the other 7,241 constituents I know exist???

  • Can you tell us what kind of query it is? And what criteria you have in it? Maybe some more details will help us help you figure out why the discrepancy!
  • The query is a Constituent Query and the only criteria is Key Indicator is I or O. So it's literally everybody in the database. I don't understand why an NXT list never reflects every single constituent. That's my ultimate goal . . . an NXT list of EVERY constituent.
  • You can compare results if you export to excel. It is a little tricky since you can't export Import ID as an output in a list. You can however export the System Record ID in both query and lists. In query it is under Constituent Information. In lists it is typically column B when you export. The system record ID sometimes matches the Constituent ID, but not always. From there you can put the results into their own worksheet in excel and use a VLOOKUP to find which records are in the query output but not in the List output. From there you can spot check to see who is missing and what they have in common. My money is on inactive records.
  • Kendall - this is very helpful. If NXT can't give me an accurate list of who my constituents are, I see that as one more reason to not even use it. I trust what I can control - and that is the database. Sadly, it's not NXT, and NXT offers very little in accurate info for anyone who needs to trust data. Thanks for your answer.

It probably also explains the discrepancy between what RE Admin says we have for the number of constituent records, and what NXT says we have. Now, if BB would only bill us for the lesser # in NXT! ?
  • I don't have the time to compare - I just need the most accurate list - and that's not NXT it seems, Thanks for taking the time to write an answer, Brian.
  • JoAnn - interesting . . . and kind of sad when BB pushes NXT so hard at customers. I can easily - and have for more than 20 years - create accurate lists within the database.
