Question on Lifetime totals

Options
Ok I'm a newbie, one of our staff has aske:

"In NXT on a consistent record there is a lifetime giving total.

What is counted in that calculation? Pledges? Planned gifts?"

I see that in our setting, Planned Gifts is not include in Recognition... does that also mean, it is not included in Lifetime Totals?

How do we know ? How do we set this?

I believe the Lifetime Giving is based on your settings for Recognition Giving.

    Hi Jarrell,

There are three different giving settings that you can set up in webview. They are all under Control Panel | Settings | Giving Analysis. There are settings for Received Revenue, Committed Revenue, and Recognition.

I learned something very important about these a few months ago though. Not a single one of them impacts the Giving Tile on a constituent record in the top row which shows "gifts received", "committed".

It looks like they should, but Blackbaud - along with a lot of my own testing on a fake account - confirmed that is not the case. I was looking for some backup of how those ARE calculated and was not able to find it at the moment.

The settings for the Giving Analysis are used in some of the Fundraising | Reporting settings, and if you build any insights with Insight Designer. But that is all. If I can find the details on the above tile, I'll post a follow up.

  • Karen Diener‍ that is absolutely crazy making. We converted to RE/NXT and essentially had to roll out and configure two "platforms" and learn two sets of vocabulary in tandem and I really struggled with this. Your post explains a lot. Thank you.

Jeannie Goings‍ oh it is bonkers for sure, and I don't know why they named the two so similarly! I have been after them to make the documentation more clear - that whenever it references those terms, it needs an extra explainer to say "by the way, ABC is NOT related to XYZ". I don't think they have really done a great job on that, so I try to make sure it is clear whenever I can!
