Data other than info listed in profile

Options

We have a received a request from a state to "“Describe the information you receive or maintain with respect to donors or prospective donors, including a description of the fields of information included in any databases maintained by your organization.”

Other than the data presented in a constituent's profile in Constituent 360 and credit card/banking information (for sustaining donations), is there any other personal information Convio might keep that we would need to know about?

  • The only other thing I could imagine they might keep would be other browser, IP information, etc. But you'd have to ask someone at Convio.

If you don't have a user in your org with access to the Setup > Database Configuration area in your Convio instance, your account manager can provide you with a list of all fields available to you.  In that area, boxes are checked for the data your instance is actually using.  In addition, Convio has webserver logs, but that's not really what you're looking for, since the traffic logs can't connect log items to specfic donors, not easily anyway.  So unless you specifically went to great effort to make it so, you'll never know that Convio Member ID 11123 had the IP 11.12.123.22 on 02/22/2009.... etc.

It's important to note, though, that Convio does NOT store the credit card information for sustaining donors -- they mearly pass it along to Verisign then trigger a scheduled transaction ID.  That's why you can't change the date a recurring transaction fires on without cancelling the existing cycle as starting another.  Again -- the donor's credit card number isn't stored in the Convio system even for sustaining gifts.
