Can I create a new group from a CSV upload?

In our Raiser's Edge database we have a list of people we want to exclude from an upcoming email push. Problem: these people are all in Convio already, but the list has been determined from criteria that can't easily be replicated by a query on the Convio side. Ideally I'd like to just upload a CSV from Raiser's Edge that would effectively assign all the constituents in question to a Convio group, which I could then use to exclude them from the target list for this mailing. Is this possible?

Sure is. You can do a Group Assignment Upload, which is in your Import/Export area.

Go to Data Management -> Import/Export. You'll see three tabs on the ensuing interface. Click "All DataSync Operations". The Group Assignment Upload should be the second on the list, and it's for exactly the situation you describe.

There should be a link in the description of the upload which goes to the online help section for this upload. It explains the required CSV format and the sequence of steps.

Bear in mind that the Group Assignment Upload only works if all the constituents in the list are already in Constituent360.
