Scheduling emails and "send"

Options

This is my first time trying to set up an email for scheduled delivery at a later date. Can someone confirm for me that the process goes like this:

  • Step 1 allows you to set a "Tentative Schedule Date," but that is not the same as actually scheduling the drop, correct?
  • The point at which you actually schedule the drop comes after you've marked the email as "approved." You can then "Set up delivery," and scheduling the actual date for a later drop is done then, correct?
  • In order to enable that later delivery, though, you still have to hit a button that is rather nerve-wrackingly labelled "Send" (as opposed to the system being smart enough to detect that you've scheduled a later delivery and changing the button's label to something less threatening, such as "Authorize scheduled delivery"). Also correct?

I ask because I've run into a few "gotchas" in this system and I'm exceedingly leary of hitting a button that says "Send" if that's NOT what I want it to do immediately. If someone can reassure me I'm doing it right - or correct me before I do something that ruins my whole day, I'd appreciate it.

  • You've got it. The Tentative Schedule Date is, at its name implies, not the final schedule date. As you mentioned, on the Delivery setup screen, you enter the final date from Schedule under Related Actions in the left navigation (which will be pre-set to the Tentative Schedule Date). Even if you are scheduling the message for future delivery, the button will still read "Send".
