Top 10 list instead of Progress Meters on donation form?

Bear with me on this explanation...

We host what we call a Brown Bag Challenge in conjunction with an annual event of ours. It has always been an offline contest, but this year we woould like to move it online.

We were thinking of using TeamRaiser for this, but the capabilites/functionality is far more than we need for this Challenge. However, we would like to use the Top 10 listings that are offered within TR.

Because TR is too much for this, I was wondering if it were possible to extract those lists somehow and use them for a regular donation form.

Basically, the donors would pick their company from a drop-down, make a donation, and the lists would update based on whicever company has the most donations and/or total amount.

I have a feeling this is going to be a lot more work than it's worth.

Is any of this making sense at this point?

    You cannot really extract the functionality you're describing from TeamRaiser so that it can be used in a normal Donation form. The only way I can see to achieve what you're describing would be, using the Donations API, you could post to a different donation form for each company available in the dropdown. Then, using the S15 tag, you could get the fundraising progress for each of those donation forms, and use that data to generate the Top 10 list. I'd definitely agree that it's a lot of work!

    Would it be possible for GCFD to use TeamRaiser for team only registration, set up the teams themselves (an admin), close registration and just have a general team landing page where donations could be collected through this event? Could they update the TR event page to not show participant top 10 and only have the top 10 teams?

    Yes, that would be another option.
