Can you record pledges on the donation forms?

Options

We're attempting to run our annual employee campaign online this year.  There are several giving options with this campaign, including donating through payroll deduction, which we have to coordinate with HR.  Basically, I'm wondering if there's a way for people to select a giving option that does NOT require actual credit  card payment.  For example, they'd elect to give 2 hours of their paycheck per pay period.

On the back end, we'd collect this information and pass along to HR so they can process the payment.  It's complicated, but I was wondering if there was a generic field we could insert into the donation form that could track this for us.  Isn't there an option you can insert that allows donor to designate toward a certain campaign?  Maybe that could work...  I looked through the fields and couldnt' figure it out.  Any suggestions are much appreciated!

  • Hi Merrell!

There are ways to incorporate all kinds of custom fields into a Convio donation form.  There are also ways to "collect" and process pledges online.  When you do this using Convio's donation forms, however, you will always be asking for credit card information to process an actual transaction.

It sounds like what you actually might want to do is to use a Convio Survey to collect the information you're looking for.  You could link to the survey from the top of a donation form (or from anywhere else that you're promoting the campaign) as another "way to give".

On the survey, you'd want to collect enough personal fields (first name, last name, email address, etc.) to clearly identify the person.  You could then ask for additional info like "Amount to deduct from each payroll check" or "Number of hours to donate weekly" ... something to that effect.  You can even opt to make the Convio survey "secure" so that the information is transmitted and collected securely (like Convio's donation forms).

Does that make sense?  Don't hesitate to post follow-up questions!
