A listing of hard bounce e-mails?

Options

I was looking for a way of seeing all the hard bounce e-mails that we have, so that I might go through them and correct them (misspellings), if possible. Is there a way to do this? If so, I haven't found it. I check both the Reports page and the E-mail Reports tab. Also looked in Report Writer. Did I miss something?

I got the impression this was possible from a recent conference call I was on.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

  • If you go under the email campaign you want to report on and click on the "reports" tab, there is a report called "Hard Bounce Report" that should give you what you need.

Wow. Didnt even think to check under Campaigns. Been a long day.

Follow-up: Is there a way to get ALL hard bounce e-mails into one report, or do I just have to go campaign by campaign?

    Thanks again!

I can relate.  You can set up a query to look for email status = hard bounces.

    Alicia beat me to it.

If you're looking for a quick snapshot of just the number of hard bounces, you can also look at the "Any registered users" group in Constituent360->Groups, and in the Group Summary table you'll see "The number of users with email status 'Hard Bounce'".

  • Hi -

We created a query that pulls "Email Status equals Bad (Hard Bounce)" and put those constituents into a group.  That query is set to periodically rebuild.  We then created a custom report via ReportWriter that looks for that group and the report is scheduled to run the 1st of every month.

My question is... what is the definition of hard bounce?  Is it all these 5xx codes?

500 - The server could not recognize the command due to a syntax error.

501 - A syntax error was encountered in command arguments.

502 - This command is not implemented.

503 - The server has encountered a bad sequence of commands.

504 - A command parameter is not implemented.

550 - The requested command failed because the user’s mailbox was unavailable (such as not found)

551 - The recipient is not local to the server.

552 - The action was aborted due to exceeded storage allocation.

553 - The command was aborted because the mailbox name is invalid.

554 - The transaction failed for some unstated reason.

    Thanx!
