Confirming offline gifts - avoiding duplication?

Hi,

We just enabled the function this year for people to be able to receive team donations, so it goes to the team, but not to any one person on the team.  Teams are unable to enter an offline donation to their team page, they can only enter it on their personal page (unless I'm wrong about that, I can't find it anywhere).

So my question is, when we are getting offline checks in for a team, how can we be sure that a team member has not already entered this on their page unconfirmed?

Is there any fail safe in convio to say wait, this person already has an unconfirmed gift in convio, dont' enter it as a new gift?

Any tips on the process of how this should go, in trying to reduce the instances of entering an offline check and confirming it, while that check is already in the system as an unconfirmed gift, would be great.

    Can you set it so only the team captains can enter the offline gifts?

    Select Event Options > Edit Advanced Options > Step 18

    18.Offline Team Gifts in the Participant Center:  Step 18. Maximum input length is 255 characters.Identifies which set of users can enter offline  Team Gifts through the Participant Center (NONE disables this feature;  CAPTAINS = Only Team Captains can enter them; MEMBERS = All team members  can enter them)
