Consent Tab in Raisers Edge

Hi All - I hope you are having a good day.


Please may I ask one question and hope you may be able to share with me your example.


I like to develop Consent tab in Raisers Edge.

At the moment we are recording in the attributes : - Ie Post, Mail, Phone etc... then we have another attributes to track  via post Newsletter and via email etc...


I think its very complex way . I would like to develop our consent tab.

Please would you be able to guide or share your example .

    Since starting this position using the Consent tab feature has been working it's way up my 'to do' list as well. Someone created a  list of options but we have not been using it yet. 


    I haven't researched it thoroughly yet but in seeing how lists for mail/emails/reports/exports are pulled, I've inherited a complex listing of attributes like you, Roma Sharma‍  I can see how attributes are being excluded fairly simply in creating reports. I do not see the same filters available in reports for Consents. For those utilizing the Consent field, how are you filtering reports/email pulls etc. using Consent field?

  • We've been using the consent tab for a little while now - I wouldn't use consents to pull a mailing list though, as RE has no way of comparing one consent to another to see which is the more recent. I would love a "last consent" section in queries and exports like there is for last action and last gift, but I think that's a pipe dream!


    We use solicit codes to determine who to include/exclude, and have set up the business rules for consents so that they trigger the addition/removal of the relevant solicit code(s). It's not perfect but it has some advantages over using attributes.

  • I made a big push about a year ago to use the consent tab since NXT emails where natively using consent to opt out of emails. It took some time to set it up the business rules to get everything working well, but here are the main takeaways on why I think it is useful:

    There is a record of historic opt in and opt out of consent through NXT emails as well as calls or emails received by staff. In the past I would make a solicit code change then add a note with the reason why. Now this is all in one place.

    When a constituent opts in/out or a communication type, corresponding solicit codes are added or removed from their record without having to go in and make changes manually which deceases user error in entering solicit codes

    I have moved all of my "special" mailing people out of attributes and have added solicit codes to include them like "Yes All Communication" or "No Acknowledgement Letters"

    We have opt in and opt out …. but then I have individual requests some supporter would like to have paper newsletter but no fundraising ask etc....

    So trying to explore...

    At the moment we are using Constituent attributes and Action notes to tracks.... it will be good to develop consent tab.

    We do not use the head of household function either, we have an attribute for the constituent who is the primary contact. As far as consent goes, I typically move constituents along in parallel for the mail and Data Processing Channels, but let them individually manage the Email channel.
