Password Reset Steps for Luminate Online

Options
Hi everyone,

We have an online virtual gala event coming up and we are uploading all the attendees ahead of time through the TeamRaiser upload tool as we want to assign them to their appropriate team (table) for the event.  We want to send our participants an initial email and ask them to reset their password, but there are so many steps, we are concerned some will get lost in the process (they will need to be logged in to the Participant Centre to see event content/videos).

The first step is the system sends the constituent to a screen where they have to enter their username and email address.  They then receive a general system generated email with a link to reset their password. This link then takes them to the password reset screen.  We were hoping to find a way to link right to this step where they reset their password and skip the first few steps of entering their username, email and receiving the system generated email.

Has anyone found a way to cut the steps down with this process at all and go right to the actual password reset page?

Thanks,

Meghan

  • HI Meghan- What if you simplified this by using the autologin link in your initial email to automatically log them into the Participant Center? From there you could let them know that they can update their password in the Participant Center. If your organization is using Participant Center 3, this can easily be done by going to the Profile tab.
  • Thanks Jennifer!  We considered that but we were worried that people wouldn't read and follow instructions to do that well as simple as it is (past experience with issues like that).  We ended up using the autologin and also added parameters to the password reset URL to autofill the username and password in the first step.  So at least they only had to click the submit button in the first step.

Hi Meghan...I'm curious, how did your virtual gala go?
