Yet more Queue Problems in the Azure Hosting Environment

  • Hi Tom,

We are self hosted RE but are considering the move to NXT in the future. Currently we use SSRS for all of our bursting of reports. We find the tool be very stable and provides us with lots of flexibility. It is a MS product, and with you being in the Azure environment already, you can also consider PowerBI. Generally MS Azure pay as you go is pretty reasonably priced. We use Azure for all of our predictive modeling projects, and the cost is very reasonable.

    Cheers,

    David
  • David,

Hmm, thank you!  We are a Microsoft shop, but as a hosted client I don't think we have access to a lot of tools we'd be able to use if we were still self-hosted.  We have PowerBi on our radar but we're short on technology people and finances for the time being.

If my fundraisers had their way they'd just get a dozen Excel spreadsheets emailed to them each day and they'd never run another report again.  It's been an uphill battle to push them away from that approach ?

I had Queue at my last job when we were 3rd party hosted.  It didn't do everything it was supposed to do - say, for example, email files as it should.  But we created a work around with an export to a folder and users would just go to the folder to view the info.

I *desperately* need Queue at my new job, but we are BB hosted out of Boston and everything I've heard sounds like a nightmare.  I'd consider purchasing it next year - but only if it were actually working.  So I'm chiming in that I refuse to give BB more money for a product that sounds like it continues to a) not do what it purports to do, and b) keeps breaking.

I'd also like to go to Azure as well - and assume we're all moving there at some point - so I sure hope they get Queue figured out!
