Convert Donor To Registrant?

We have couple of people who donated the right amount to register for our event but did not actually register to walk. Is there any easy way to turn them from donors into participants? The best I could think of was to use the "Register A Participant" link on the Participants page and then mark down the reg fee to 0.00. Is there another way?

    Would they get your autoresponders that way?

    What if you filled out the public form with their info, and used a discount code to waive the charges?
