How to do donor research on organizations?

Options
At my organization, we are establishing a donor rating system to be stored in RE and easily pulled to determine which donors should be reached out to ahead of others. One part we are struggling with is how to effectively research organizations instead of individuals. We use ResearchPoint to scan our individual donors, as well as a quick Google search to hopefully capture more of what we don't see from the data. Do any of you have a program or a process that you use to efficiently research organizations in order to apply them to your donor rating system? Also if you rate organizations differently or on a different scale than individual donors, please feel free to share that as well!

Thanks!

Marisa

I'm not a researcher but I believe iWave will allow you to research organizations.

I'm interested to see how others reply to this thread.

I just checked with our researcher about if iWave researches orgs. She said, "No because they can’t measure their donor capacity – iwave pulls info on homes owned, donations, stock sales, their affinity to give to the school.  It’s really tied to individuals.

Hi JoAnn Strommen‍, I hadn't looked for myself when I posted my comment but our consultant had mentioned this within the past month so this morning I logged in and tried to find what he was talking about and found this company search. While it may not be able to look at donor capacity might there be some other measure of rating that might help Marisa Allison‍'s organization's needs?

Thank you, Elizabeth! I'll go ahead and look into this site, it looks like I should be able to get some of the information and derive the rest of the information I need from a few quick formulas.

    Thanks again!

My pleasure and Marisa Allison‍ I hope it helps. If you can keep us posted if it worked for you or not that would be great. Totally understand if you can't.

    Safe and healthy thoughts,

    Elizabeth

  • Hello,

I usually do a gift search using Noza or DonorSearch for top corporations and use their largest gift as a capacity.

  • Have you posted this question on the PRSPCT-L listserv?  If not, I would recommend it.
