Does anyone know the best way to load data for one time use only?

Options

We have access to a dtat list for one time use only.  We want to send them an email, but then after doing so how do we remove all the email records from the data base so that we do not inadvertantly send them something again?

Best I can see is to do a standard Cons Import, and stick them all in group. Email them, and then mark everyone in that group as AcceptEmail=No. Otherwise you could treat the group as a Do Not Email group.

But of course, the goal here is to get a bunch of those as active constituents. How do they get out of the penalty box and become emailable again? Not to mention that this would mean we have to pollute our Cons list with all these mostly-junk records.

Thanks brian - that's exactly the issue i am wondering how best to handle - getting rid of any email addresses that don't respond to the email, but keeping those that do.

The best I can think of is to send the email, and then immediately go in and delete every record I just sent to.  That way anyone who responds to the email becomes a new registration and I keep that data.  However i'm not sure how the system handles a record that has been deleted if they come back and register again?

  • A prospecting effort such as this is not inline with Convio's acceptable use policy.

It would be necessary to utilize a thrid party service to send a prospecting message such as this in order to drive recipients to your site to take action or to collect an Opt in to your orginazation's Email Campaigns.

Convio's Email Marketing tools cannot be utilized to send to lists for which explicit permission has not been collected from the recipient prior to messaging.

this list does have explicit permission for use.  We are a sponsor of an event.  As part of registration for the event attendees check a box if they would like to receive emails from the event sponsors.  So we have permission to email them - both from the individual and from the event host - but only to do so one time.  Convio is our email marketing tool and we do not want to use a third party tool to handle this one email.
