Welcome Series Reporting...

Options

We've recently launched a 3-part welcome series triggered by gift count+date range to (hopefully) generate a second gift. For instance, a new donor will receive the first message 15 days after their first gift. If there's no second gift within 45 days, the donor will get message #2; if the donor does make a second gift, hurray! They're off the list; if still no gift, they'll get message #3.

We would like to report the (1) occurrence and (2) success of the Welcome Series campaign a couple of ways but seem to be running into walls.

  1. Need: Upload the date the message went to the donor in our offline db (Donor Perfect Online), using the actual date of delivery. Problem: The message re-sends daily based on the gift count/date range criteria. Because it sends daily, I can't get an email recipient delivery report (RDR) that is accurate without also running it daily in order to capture the date because the RDR doesn't include a date (only that it was or wasn't delivered to the member of the group). I also can't exclude names from the RDR, so I'll get an ever-increasing list even if I do run it daily. The only way I can see to get a "daily" list would be to re-run the RDR daily, copy today's results into yesterday's results in Excel, de-dupe to see who is left, and then fill in the date. Tedious and not something I'm willing to do on a daily basis; we plan on uploading the contact weekly. Also, while the Welcome Series "email sent" interaction is viewable on the constituent's interaction screen, it apparently isn't a reportable field.
  2. Need: Detailed "Email delivery statistics." Problem: Again, because the message is sent daily, detailed statistics on the overall performance of the Welcome Series campaign are iffy at best. The email campaign snapshot screen gives a good (though non-exportable as far as I can tell) summary of delivery and open information for the campaign to-date. However, if you need to see click performace, the numbers are wacky because each link seems to be getting a new identification number daily. I've created a custom report for our newsletter that captures all this information plus gift responses, but the newsletter goes out only once, not daily, and so the numbers work. With a little cut/paste action from the custom report results and a little clean up on the canned link report, everything works pretty well.

Has anybody else run into these problems? Any solutions, short of having an engineer program a custom report? I have a ticket in with Customer Support, but thought I'd try the masses. Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer!

<Sigh> Well, at least we can go insane together. I'll certainly let you know if I hear anything helpful.

This just in from the updated ticket (happy thoughts and crossed fingers):

    Hi Tina,

Our Product Management team is working at adding more items to Report Writer in the upcoming releases. For now, I created this feature request.

FR-18532 RW: Interactions Report should contain Email Sent Interactions
