Transferring Greater Giving Gifts to Raiser's Edge - Keeping RE up to date through an event

Options
Hello! We are starting a major gifts campaign and as such are working closely with board and volunteers who are stewarding donors. As such, we want to make sure we are able to pull all relevant gift information on a major donor so that all fundraisers know what's up.

Here's the issue -- the auction. Historically we have gone through the auction and used the GG Raiser's Edge import to upload all the auction gifts all at once. But that forces our fundraisers to pull info from two different databases rather than having one central location (Raiser's Edge) -- over the course of four months.

Anyone have an efficient process for keeping gifts constantly updated in RE from GG -- say weekly? Not interested in duplicate entry (entering in both databases as they come in) or Omatic software. Otherwise, any suggestions are welcome! Thank you!

Amber Nelson‍ you may want to look at Importacular. It is a plug-in and importing gifts is one of their free areas. If you wanted more information I am sure David Zeidman‍ would be happy to answer your questions.

Thank you - I'll look into that!

  • Thank you Dan Snyder‍  for the shoutout.

Amber Nelson‍  I see that you have sent through an email to us. If one of my colleagues had not already been in touch then I am sure they will be soon. Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
  • Have you looked in the Reports section of GG??  There are templates for exporting specifically for RE, so that you can import it.  And GG support guides and telephone support are really good.  If you are not interested in entry and do not want any Omatic products, like many will suggest, then I would say that is your option.

On an aside... I personally thing you are opening a Pandora's box in that it sounds like you are choosing to import the $$ history in GG from just certain records.  Over time this will get very muddy and does not give a true giving history of all of your constituents.  I have always, always moved all of the event activity to RE so that you have the full history for everyone -- after the event is over.  It can be very telling -- some folks only give to events and never to your annual giving.  Besides -- at some point, if your org/dept decides to break the contract and go to another software solution, you will lose all of that history unless you move it all at the time you disconnect.  Just sayin'.  For your consideration.
