New updates? Screens have turned blidning white.

Options
The screens have changed to a blizzard white and I can barely look at them.  I must work on RE for 8 hrs a day and feeling like I am going blind.   Is anyone else experiencing this?  How do you change the brightness.? I have tried everything.  Where have the person setting options gone to?  No longer available it seems.  Thank you for any help from other users who had to change the brightness level.   My computer is completely fine other than RE.        I would appreciate any emails with helpful advice.  Karen.miller@promedica.org

  • Hi,

No, it updates and I lost all my personal
settings with columns, colors, queries.   And the screen
is so hard to llok at . I use RE for 8 hrs a day.   I
called for help and they said this is the “new look”
    sigh!

  • I am having eye pain. I do have special "blue" light computer glasses as well for several years.  Why do they feel this is a "good" update?   Was it put into place from some one who doesn't have to use it?  ?
  • Hi,

I have been on the chat line with customer support for a long time and they could not find any solution.  They told me to write into the community and idea line, so I have asked if others were able to solve this issue.

    thanks, Karen
  • I got this at basically the same time.  This notice on the login screen details that this change:  https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/191452

In talking to support on Thursday, it seems this has been slowly rolling out since January.  I'm not sure there is a decent fix for the extra brightness.
  • Hi Kathy,

Where do you find the brightness in RE to tone it down?   That is what I can't find.   Also, the colors are just awful and difficult to read.   Do you know where to find those tab to fix it at?   It am just not very RE savvy. whoever made this update obviously doesn't have to look at it for 8 hrs and get eye pain.

    thanks, Karen
  • Hi Cindy,

I even have bifocal computer glasses made esp. for the computer distance on top and reading level on the bottom, They also have the blue light protection.  So even with all of THAT, that colors are simply terrible.  I have a head ache going home each night.  Yes, some crazy program guy who never works on RE all day changed this to some kind of modern look - ugh!
  • There is now an idea in the ideas bank to vote on: https://community.blackbaud.com/products/raisersedge7/ideas. Thanks!

    Hi Karen,

You adjust your computer screen, not RE. I have my screen set to 50% brightness, because I very much prefer a dark theme for using a computer and this is about the best I can do with Citrix RE7.

And for some time now, using Chrome browser, I've been using the Dark Reader extension which enables me to quickly toggle websites that are too bright - which includes NXT!

+1 for the Blackbaud developers needing lessons in Usability and UX - with an expensive database it should be trivial to offer a colour (color) palette like we got with Windows XP, eg:

And for any BB staff that are reading, I'm sure the NN Group could suggest a consultant for you:

  • No, my computer is just fine on all other
screens except for the new update on RE.  It is just
awful!  I called into RE and they said there is no fix nor
    personalized settings.

    Thanks,

    Karen

The arctic, blinding white is bad, but PLEASE, PLEASE don't mess with my preferences when rolling out an update!
  • I agree...do NOT like the updated version :(

  • I have monkeyed and monkeyed, there is no way to fix this.
  • I have a iMac computer and the brightness setting is under System Preferences - and then Displays - and then a Brightness slide bar.

  • Hi,

Is that for the entire brightness of your
    computer, or just RE?

I thought my screens were already fairly bright but just figured it was my sensitive eyes. I already use the night light option to dim them a bit and adjust room lighting.

Oh, the update last week is unreal. Don't know why it took until now to take effect for us but yes I agree 110% that it is blinding!  This is totally unsatisfactory!

And as roger berg‍ said: Don't mess with my settings when you update!
  • Agreed, it is very hard on the eyes!
