Exclude Heading from Query Field

Options
Hi y'all,

This might be a simple question, but I am a bit stuck on some data tracking work for which I need a really specific setup for my query fields. I am working from Patrick Henry College and I need a way to display all my constituents with the "Alumni" constituency code who also do NOT have "Patrick Henry College" in any of the Education folder of their Relationship tab.

When I use "does not equal Patrick Henry College," I get lots of alumni who have other college names in their Education folder who still can have Patrick Henry College as one of those names.

Thank you,

Jackson Katanic

  • Odd - when I create a constituent query with the criteria 'establishment does not equal University of Southampton', my record is not in the results even though I do have another education record with a different establishment.

If you can't get it to work with a single query for whatever reason, you could make one query for your alumni and another for constituents who do have 'Patrick Henry College' in their education, then merge the queries and subtract one from the other.
  • Sometimes when a field can have multiple values (like Constituent Code) using "is one of" and "is not one of", even when you only have one value to compare, can eliminate some problems.
  • okay --  Is not One of... or Does Not Equal and all of the Does Not...  commands are really inconsistent.

Is this housekeeping you are doing??  All of your alums should have a Primary Education Relationship of your school.  If they don't that should be cleaned up.

But to answer your question.  If you want YOUR alums that do not have a relationship to YOUR college.  Query on One of... and choose all of the other schools except yours from the list.
  • Are you pulling the school field from the Primary Education School name?  The same thing happens to me with my school if I do not choose the relationship that includes Primary.
