Dashboard Viewing in Webview vs. Database view

Is there a way that you can transfer a dashboard set up in database view to webview?

Everyone in my office loves the dashboards that we've created in NXT. We stopped using them in RE - no point anymore.
  • Hi Karen:

Can you share some dashboard templates which can help major donor officer's work?

    Thanks,

  • I totally agree - the NXT Dashboards are lightyears ahead of the old Database view dashboards in terms of readability and usefulness.  There are *still* some pretty big limitations due to them only using a small subset of fields and limited querying abilities, but they are getting better.  We've made a number of really neat and useful dashboards for our development officers.

There's a lot of flexibility and if you buy the Insight Designer you kind of get a whole toolbox of customization.  There's a yearly fee for that but it's pretty manageable from what I remember.  Here's one part of one DOD dashboard we have created.  This particular one mostly uses opportunities/proposals.  You can filter on solicitor, deadline, opportunity and even purpose, though most of the little insights (small data elements) do some of that filtering for you....

  • Thank you Tom. This dashboard is designed in report builder (insight designer), correct?

It's worth mentioning that you don't have to purchase insight designer to build the dashboards.  The built in report builder is a great tool, however you are limited in the graphs and figured that can be displayed.  Insight designer allows you to create custom graphs outside of the baked in ones.
  • I tried to create dashboard today. I found that I cannot change fond size and box height size (total of opportunities). It's so big, doesn't like Tom's dashboard (proper size). Do you know what problem is? We don't have insights designer. For example: total of opportunities. I can change width, not height and fond type.
  • Catherine Han‍ It's strange that you can't change the size of the Insight box on a report.  You should be able to just grab the bottom-right corner of the Insight box and click and drag to resize it  The font size changes automatically and dynamically.  The reports also change size depending upon how big your browser window is... That way these reports will work on screens of all different sizes, including mobile devices...  Perhaps try a newer web browser?  I mostly use Chrome, though I'm guessing the report builder would work well with anything modern.
  • I can drag the right bottom corner to change a bit. But minimum size is too big.

For example the total opportunities box (minimum box is big square). I will try different browser to see how it happens. Thanks, Tom

  • We use gift attributes or custom fields for many of our reports and currently this is not an option in the NXT reports, whether they are the deliverable dashboards or in Insight Designer. Can someone from Blackbaud update us on when or if custom fields will be made available in any of the NXT reporting areas? For many of the regular reports I do, if I can't use custom fields they are worthless and I really want to use them. Thank you!
