Recurring Gifts

How do you guys do recurring gifts that come through BBNC Net community plug in and ask for it to recur on the 15th of the month? It has there first payment there but how does it continue to recur with out having the credit card in Raisers edge. I know how to set up a recurring gift if i have the form sent in mail just not when it comes through BBNC.

  • Hi shannon grant‍! I'll try to share what we do and what we can see in our system. However, it might also be worth touching base with Blackbaud Support or your Customer Success Manager, just to be sure you're set up correctly. Just in case it's hard to walk through here in Community.


    One thing that jumps out to me is you saying that you don't have the credit card numbers in Raiser's Edge. As far as I know, there's nothing special we've done here. The credit card the constituent provides on the website ultimately populates in RE and is the credit card number we'll use to charge the donor.


    Here's a rough overview of the process for my organization:
    1. Recurring gift is one of the options on our donation page. Our BBNC site captures the constituent's name, address, email, credit card info.

       
    2. Next, we'll go into the NetCommunity portal in Raiser's Edge. We'll process the gifts there which sends them over to Batch. Once they're in Batch, two of the fields that we can see are Type and EFT. Here we want to see that Type is Recurring Gift. And we want to see that EFT is checked. When we process the Batch, the recurring gift is set up.

       
    3. If we go view the Recurring Gift on the Constituent's record, we won't be able to read all the credit card info, because there's a bunch of asterisks. But it's there.

       
    4. And in the future, when we go back to Batch to actually charge the credit cards on our recurring gifts, the credit card information will be there. I can provide more detail on this step if it's not something you're already doing.
    How closely does that mirror your process? Where might we be different?
    • It sounds like Recurring Gift is one of your options, since you mentioned the 15, but you or your admin may want to double-check your donation form on your BBNC site.
    • After processing the gifts in the BBNC portal in RE, are you going into Batch to actually create the gift records in RE. And if so, are you seeing Type: Recurring Gift and a checked EFT field in Batch?
    • Is there anything displaying in the credit card fields: In the BBNC Raiser's Edge Portal? In Batch? On the Recurring Gift Record?
    • Are you going back into Batch on the 15th (or whatever day) to "run" your recurring gifts? Again, I'm happy to walk through this step in more detail if this is new to you.
