Using PayPal in addition to OLX?

Does anyone use PayPal in addition to OLX? We are exploring that option. Many of our donors have asked for a PayPal option so that they can make a spur-of-the-moment gift from their phone, even if they do not have their credit card handy. Others want the option simply to avoid the hassle of entering all credit card information each time they give.

So we are wondering about having two "donate now" buttons on our giving page. One labled "Donate now by Credit Card" which would link to our OLX form, and another labled "Donate Now using PayPal" which would link to our yet-to-be-created PayPal donation account. Has anyone done this?

We've done this, though we don't require the extra click for "Donate via credit card". You can take a look at how we did so here: https://ecotrust.org/donate/

Our only complaint about our current format is that as a donor moves through the OLX donate form, and even once they get to the confirmation/Thank You page of the donate form, the button saying "Donate via PayPal" is still listed above it. Otherwise, we've been happy with the functionality.

We are also attempting to use a PayPal donation button within our OLX forms. Can't find any Blackbaud documentation on how this is done. Help if you can. Thank you.

Maybe someone from Blackbaud can jump in here, but I remember attending a NXT Roadmap webinar and they said they are working on adding a PayPal option integrated within OnlineExpress.

We have both options but with the current set up PayPal does not talk to RE there is not the transparency we would like over the transaction as we do not manage that in our team.

Also, although PayPal has been requested by donors the usage has been minimal so we are thinking of removing it.

It may be worthwhile revisiting it within OLX if we get instructions.

Hi all,

I'm a product manager with the Blackbaud Payment Service team. I can jump in for Chris to say that we are working on delivering PayPal and Venmo on OLX forms. For Blackbaud Merchant Services customers, our expectation is that PayPal and Venmo will be able to be offered as a payment option for OLX donation forms that use Blackbaud Checkout. Those transactions will turn into gifts in RE just as normal credit card payments are today. I don't have a timeline for when this will be delivered yet but we are expecting to begin an Early Adopter Program in March. I don't have many more details to share yet but please let me know if you would like to be considered for the Early Adopter Program. One caveat for the EAP in case it influences your decision: we don't expect recurring payments to be available with PayPal and Venmo until a later date. Thanks all!

We hav OLX with RE, and today PayPal and Venmo showed up on the gift tab in RE database view. I have never seen this before. Is this just a teaser? ?

All I could find was this thread. P.S. we are excited that this seems like it is in the near future.

We too would be interested in an EAP on Paypal and Venmo, Lee Turner. My only question is..... Do the charges/funds come through BBMS? Our Finance department will not allow us to use other merchant services and we are to only use BBMS. It sound like the funds would, but I do not want to assume.

Rachel Cavalier‍ great! I've put your name and Jewish Care on my list of Early Adopter candidates. Unfortunately, the first phase of the program will be for USD Blackbaud Merchant Services accounts only but you will be the first person I reach out to once we're ready to get started in other currencies. I don't know when that will be yet but I don't expect it to be too long after our USD counterparts.

Christine Prete‍ We are making those payment methods available only to BBMS customers, but PayPal will be the gateway and processor of all PayPal and Venmo transactions. We will continue to work with them to try to find a way to have BBMS process and disburse those transactions in the future, but for now it's the nature of those payment methods that PayPal controls the processing and disbursements with no way for BBMS to do so. So your organization will need a PayPal merchant account in order to participate. I'll send you an email to discuss in more detail.
