Query including soft credits

Options
I'm trying to do an appeal to donors that have given or been soft credited for a gift of $1,500+ since 1/1/2018.

1. The local Community Foundation did a "Give Where You Live" day. They sent us a check with the names of 98 donors that donated to the Community Foundation. We entered the CF gift and soft credited the donors. Gifts ranged from $5 - $25,000. All donors are being pulled into the query.

2. For the Query Options/Gift Processing I'm selecting soft credit to recipient/Use amount in grid

3. Due to other criteria requirements I'm doing a Constituent Query

Customer Support Reps have not used RE in real life so they don't understand the criteria I need.

Any suggestions?

I would add "and Gift Amount to Credit to Constituent greater than $1500".  This is a field in the Gift section and I find I have to add that in order to correctly get the soft credits.

I'd look into the summary fields for gifts.  And use your criteria as filters for the gift.  Your exclusion criteria for event is difficult.  It looks to exclude anyone who gave/attended any of those events.  Assuming that is what you want, then things should be okay.

I'm not sure exactly what this criteria does but it doesn't not give me all donors of $1,500 or more. I will need to look at this in depth to see why the 114 I'm expecting dropped to 24.

I'm looking for anyone who has given a single $1,500 or more gift instead of someone who has given three $500 gifts.

I'd still look at summary.  Total number of gifts greater than or equal to 1 with gift amount greater to $1,500 etc.

Perhaps it could be excluding donors with no Events.
  • I'm going to offer options you've most likely already checked... but just in case.

You did not leave out any Gift Type?

There were absolutely no gifts which were not Soft Credited?  Such as gifts from the foundation itself?  (recipient only SC would leave these gifts out)

You removed the line Not One of (.....)  just to be certain it isn't causing the issue?

Thanks but removing the Event criteria results in the same issue of constituents with $50 soft credit showing up in the query and export.

I looked at summary and got donors who gave three $500 gifts in that time frame but never a $1,500 gift.

    Included all gift types.

Yes, there are gifts with no Soft Credits. If they are $1,500+ I want them. Tried both ways and still got donors with $50 soft credits.

The criteria was only: Greater or equal to 1/1/2018; Gift amount Greater or equal to $1,500; Credit soft credit to recipient using amount in grid.

  • When you removed the Event criteria from Query did you still have Event information in the Output? That could result in wonky results.

Start with a fresh Query with just the Gift criteria including the parenthesis.  Then use that query as the source for another Query that adds the Event criteria.

I didn't have Event in Output. I have tried several fresh queries trying to figure this one out. But, thanks, John.

  • If you are having trouble capturing everybody in query you can narrow the search in Exports. Exports allow much more control over pulling soft credits.

It isn't that I'm not capturing everybody it's that I'm capturing too many. People that shouldn't be in the query because they didn't give the minimum amount of a gift. I'm looking for people that either gave a single $1500.00 gift (or more) or were soft credited for a single $1500.00 (or more) gift.

Did you say that using "Gift Amount to Credit to Constituent greater than $1500" did not work for you?
  • I would pull the soft credit people separately and then paste them back in.
