Comparative Reports without Gifts

Options
Hi,

I'm embarrassed to explain and ask this...I'm running a comparative board report - last year vs. this year. I've unchecked "exclude zero dollar gifts." But UNFORTUNATELY, I have 2 Board members who did not give last year OR this year, so they're not showing up at all. Is there a different report or something else I need to check to include all current board members? When I run the query that I use to pull the report, they are listed on it, but then they don't show up on the comparative because they have no gifts associated with their names. Ughh!

  • Unless you have gifts on those board member records where the amount of the gift is $0.00 then the "Exclude zero dollar gifts" option won't make any difference at all.

The problem with the Comparative report is that if there are no gifts for those board members then there's nothing to compare.  You might consider entering a $0.00 gift for them so that they'll show up on the report and do not exclude zero dollar gifts when running the report.
  • That's a good idea. I could do that. I also set up a query with the info I needed and exported it. That works fine too, it just doesn't look as nice as the generated reports do, in my opinion. It will work though. Thanks for responding.
  • I'd suggest making an export to do this instead. You would use a constituent query that has all your board members and then bring that into an export with an output using the Summary > Total Amount of Gifts field. You can then limit that field to whatever criteria (campaign, gift date, etc.) and then pull it again with different criteria. You can use custom column names to differentiate what each one contains.
  • Thanks. I think that's what I've ended up doing. I like the look of reports though. ☹
  • If you're feeling adventurous you could turn that export into a Crystal Report and make a nice shiny PDF that looks better.
  • I haven't done that before, but it might be time to try!
