Options

Hi all, does anybody enter proposals, specifically grant proposals? If so, what table entries do you commonly use for the Purpose field, Reason field, Type of gift field, and Instrument field? I manage a database that includes 5 different major foundations, 4 smaller foundations, and 4 critical access locations. None of them can agree on what to use these fields for (No! Really? lol!). I am creating a standard for these fields and am curious what other RE groups do. Thank you!

  • Due to a restructuring we're not currently keeping grant proposals in RE, but when we did a few years ago we relied heavily on the Proposal Attributes to keep track of everything.  We had some general rules for Proposal Name and Purpose, but here are the attributes we created and used for grants:

    School:

    Indirect Costs:

    Principal Investigator

    Project End Date

    Project Start Date


    Trying to get people to agree on small changes is often more difficult than most data problems...  Good luck!
