Citrix Hosting Update

Options
I apolgize if this is the wrong subset to post this in, but since Citrix Hosting was updated, some shortcuts in RE are not working.   For example the Shift + F2 shortcut no longer works, (and my coworker and I use this one A LOT).   When we do that shortcut in particular, it moves the entire program to a Remote Desktop Application...and it does not do what SHIFT + F2 is supposed to do.

Not sure if this is happening for anyone else but I am hoping there is a fix.

Hi, Lauren Fardella‍ we are also experiencing this issue. I started a case with Blackbaud on Friday. I searched the kb and community extensively and found nothing. Support has not been able to answer my question yet.

F2 still works for a particular field so if you are simply adding a series of attributes that works but say you are entering a gift or an action and want to load all the fields you either have to go in each time to select your default and have it load automatically or you have to load each field separately with the F2 key. Neither of these I care to have as a long term issue. I've tried numerous key combinations and have not had any success.

For those that are not experiencing this yet - what is happening to us (I'm on Windows 10 and have tried in both IE and Chrome) when I select Shift F2 to load the default it moves the Citrix window and restores down the RE window within that.

I'm hoping one of the amazing community members already has a fix for it.
  • Thank you Elizabeth....that is not a workaround that I would want to do have long term either.    Shift+F2 is definitely 2nd most used shortcut for us!   (first being F7 hehe)   But yes, I had a chat open with support and he was going to provide me with a workaround that involved fixing something in the system files (???) but then our chat got disconnected!!!  Ugh.

My first chat was disconnected before I had a chance to even reply (they have apologized) so I actually have two open cases on this one. Lauren Fardella‍ let's be sure whoever gets the solution first posts here. Then we can supply our answer to the open cases and maybe we can help support get the info out faster.

Lauren Fardella‍ I put our question out to one of the trainers at Blackbaud University as they posted they were using the new Citrix environment and they are a group of brilliant instructors and work with so many students I figured they might have come up with a solution that is different from ours. Alas, they hadn't. I started an idea in the idea bank. Should you care to vote here is the link. Still, no solution from support, yet.

This looks to be a Citrix Receiver "improvement".  Here is the URL with the Citrix notes.  https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/receiver/windows/4-9/improve.html

I'll copy the noteworthy part here (emphasis added).

Hotkey sequences are key combinations designed by Citrix. For example, the Ctrl+F1 sequence reproduces Ctrl+Alt+Delete, and Shift+F2 switches applications between full-screen and windowed mode. You cannot use hotkey sequences with virtual desktops displayed in the Desktop Viewer (that is, with XenDesktop sessions), but you can use them with published applications (that is, with XenApp sessions).

I don't know if this set of hotkeys can be turned off by Blackbaud or not, but I think that's what's going on here.

Thanks, Dariel Dixon‍ I too had found the info you quoted. Being an optimist I was hoping someone found a way around it. It is a nice addition to the thread to have the technical reason as to why it isn't working.
  • Dariel Dixon‍  do you think there is alternative short cut to load defaults?   As you mentioned, the CTRL+F1 is the Citrix version of CTL+ALT+DEL

Not that I know of Lauren Fardella‍.  Unfortunately, I'm unaware of a way to set or change keyboard shortcuts either.  I also don't know if I see this issue getting fixed.  Blackbaud hasn't made any changes to RE 7 in a while, and this issue only affects hosted clients.  *sigh*

Not to say hope is lost, but in the administrative settings there may be a way to turn off the environmental keyboard shortcuts.  I think that it's something in the way that the Citrix receiver is configured.
  • It looks like it is back!
