Secure event registration pages in LO

Options
Aren't LO Event registration pages supposed to be secure? I swear ours used to be but maybe not. Once you click from the event details page to the event registration page, shouldn't our users be going to a secure.cbf.org/ web page?

Thoughts?

Thanks.

  • Hi Kim,

Have an example url we can look at?

I know on our TRs the secure piece doesn't kick in until you actually click "Join" and get to that page.

We will be implementing SSL across our site as our next project. You can talk to your CSM to help get this process started.

    Thanks,

  • That is really weird!

I checked out Events pages and they are secure.

I would check with Support. Looks like you guys already have SSL implemented.

    Thanks,

  • Thanks for checking, Philip Nawrocki‍. Much appreciated.

  • Hello! I'm writing here because there is mention of the SSL switch in this post.

We worked with Blackbaud to implement this switch last fall, and we've noticed some unexpected consequences that we think are a result -- but we can't seem to get a definite answer.

For example, the email performance reports in report writer no longer pull accurate revenue from emails -- it's always lower. Our best guess is that links are now redirecting to the new secure domain, which is essentially breaking the tracking.

Secondly, the autologin feature is not working on surveys or donation forms with any consistency. I've been using LO for years and never had an issue like this. Again, I can only assume it's because of the secure redirect.

I was wondering if either of you have noticed any unexpected issues? Thanks for your reply!

I can't comment on the email performance, but you're right that event registrations are now automatically going straight to the secure page. You can overrule that by swapping out the url you use in your email. For example, our events now create the page https://secure.cbf.org/....  Whenever we link to one of those pages we always change the link to http://chesapeake.cbf.org.... It will automatically direct to the secure URL, but it should no longer break your tracking.
