Teamraiser Coaching Emails - filter not working

Options
General question:  Is anyone else finding that Coaching Emails additional filters are not working correctly, specifically "Minimum Donation Amount" and "Maximum Donation Amount:"?  After putting in logic for those with Max of $100 in one and minimum of $100 in another, we're compared the list of those that were sent the email with a participant performance report filtered on dollars raised.  Some people are included that would be expected and many others with the same dollar threshold were not.

More specific question:  After reporting the issue mentioned above months ago, while the filter is not pulling the target defined, BB engineering has determined the audience defined under "Configure Additional Filters" are supposed to be EXCLUDED from the email not included.  Even though the filters have "...in order to be sent this email message.", engineering has determined that based on reading programming code the audience is getting excluded and therefore that's how it supposed to work and changed the language on the summary screen to Filters Applied

After applying the filter conditions, this message will not be sent to the target audience members who".

Here are the filters.  We completely disagree with their determination that these are all EXCLUDE THIS TARGET filters and believe this is a bug.  After months, BB is still disagreeing.  Are we the only ones that believe these are sub-filters that allow you to more narrowly target your audience and serve as an INCLUDE functions?

  • The wording is super weird. My events team get confused by these too.

But think about it. Nothing you can do will include more people than are in the target group, right? So either way, it's really excluding (or filtering) and not including anyone new.

So say we target "All Participants".

Minimum Number of Donations: Enter the number of donations that a participant must have received in order to be sent this email message.

If we enter 5, and if this were accurate then it would actually remove anyone that had less than 5 donations.

So no matter what we are removing recipients. I would want a direct description of the filter, not a description of the results of the filter. An "include filter" just seems sort of like a double negative or something.

But either way the wording is awkward, maybe because they were trying so hard to make them directives. Why not...

    Minimum Number of Donations:

Do not deliver to participants that have received this many or more donations.

PS - Now who wants to bet that this filter doesn't actually do either of these two scenarios? :-\"
  • 5. Self Donor Status Filter:

Select the appropriate option below to determine which participants should be sent this email message based on if they made a donation to their own fundraising effort.

    - All participants regardless of self donor status

    - Self donor participants (who have made a donation to their own fundraising effort)

    - Participants who have not made a donation to their own fundraising effort

The first option made me laugh. Is this what it really says?

So it's either send to all participants regardless of self donor status, or don't send to All participants regardless of self donor status. Which means "don't do anything at all" or "remove every single recipient".

CORRECT - That is IF/WHEN the filters work.
  • Brian - Seems like three separate things to me.

    5. Self Donor Status Filter:

Select the appropriate option below to determine which participants should be sent this email message based on if they made a donation to their own fundraising effort.

    - All participants regardless of self donor status

    - Self donor participants (who have made a donation to their own fundraising effort)

The first option made me laugh. Is this what it really says?

So it's either send to all participants regardless of self donor status, or don't send to All participants regardless of self donor status. Which means "don't do anything at all" or "remove every single recipient".

    - All participants regardless of self donor status
    Send message to all participants

    - Self donor participants (who have made a donation to their own fundraising effort)
Send message to all self donors

    - Participants who have not made a donation to their own fundraising effort
    Send message to non-self-donors

    3 different groupings.
