How do you track user gift entry when the user does not have batch commit rights

Options
Hello,

I have some new temporary users/volunteers entering gifts into batches. They do not have user rights to commit batches. After I review their gift batches, I commit the batch. I was providing the number of gifts entered by user, with a simple query, before this project began (we have gift entry in 3 different locations). Now, I need to know how many gifts they're entering each week. Is my only option to take the counts from each batch and add them up manually, based on the "created by" column in the batch screen?

If you have gift entry staff who are not allowed to commit batches, how do you track their gift entry numbers?

Thanks for any suggestions!

  • If you're manually reviewing each batch before committing then I'd just also take a moment to add their name, the gift count (and probably batch number) into a rogue spreadsheet.

There may be ways to get created by and gift count information if you have direct back-end access to the database, but that's probably more trouble than it's worth.
  • Along with what John said, you can export the entire batch to Excel (right click anywhere inside the batch rows) so at least it's automatically generated for each batch.
  • I like to be able to pull information from within RE, instead of keeping a separate database. I would add a gift attribute of something like "Vol Initials", add that column to your default batch template, then it's added to each gift. You could even create it as a drop-down menu to avoid typos.
  • I'm with Michelle Tribe‍ on adding a gift attribute. You could have a batch template for each volunteer with the gift attribute already added as a hidden default if that works.
