Annual Solicitor Goals

Options
My org is relatively new to Raiser's Edge (converted from eTapestry in 2016). One aspect of RE that I, currently Director of Operations, am only just now starting to explore is establishing and reporting on specific solicitor goals.

While we have internally agreed on both the broad campaign goals and specific solicitor goals for the current fiscal year, I feel like I've already hit a roadblock when it comes to using RE to record and report on the individual solicitor goals.

The specific goals for each solicitor are based on RE campaigns.  Currently my RE campaigns are not tied to a fiscal year; I fundamentally use the gift/pledge date for reporting on a specific fiscal year.  The wall I've hit is that while I want to say that Fundraiser A has a goal of $1,000,000 for FY20 Major Gifts, when I try to record that goal in RE I find that I can only tie that goal to the Campaign (Major Gifts) and not also a date range (FY20).  My gut is telling me that unless I'm missing something or unless I want to start a new set of fiscal year Campaigns in RE, the reporting and analysis is going to be something that I have to do in Excel.

Can other folks in the community provide some guidance on what I may be missing or what I could do?  Thank you!

When you are setting goals, do you see something similar to this - could you use Unspecified?

Or if you want to use the Campaign, put the campaign goal in for this FY, and then when the new FY rolls around update the goal for that period.

  • That's definitely what I'm seeing.  I guess I'm wondering is if I have campaigns running over multiple fiscal years, will the following happen:

    1. Fundraiser A gets appropriately credited for a gift towards the Major Gifts campaign that is received in FY19.

    2. I set Fundraiser A's FY20 goals for Major Gifts.

    3. Gifts from FY19 get counted towards Fundraiser A's FY20 goal thus improperly affecting their progress.

Having not worked with Goals at all I just want to be certain that I've got all in line so that I know what kind of work to expect when I'm reporting on progress.

If you run your reports with gift date parameters will that fix the issue?

We create funds and campaigns for each fiscal year - we have many donors who "support" in advance meaning they committ to supporting future initiatives or future fundraising events, so to keep it all straight forward and manageable and "reportable" we create the funds and campaigns that way.

    Good Luck!
  • You can try to use the Unspecified radio button instead of the Campaign one.  That doesn't have any required fields so you wouldn't necessarily have to tie it to a campaign.  You add a category, which you could always do as FY20, FY21, etc.
