Best Practice for Matching Gift Search Placement

Hi all,


So, we have a search box on our donation page that allows donors to search if their donation will be matched.  It's at the top of the page above the donation form.


I have a colleague who wants it removed because it "distracts from their making a donation" and instead wants it to only appear on the acknowledgement screen and in the ack email.


I have my own opinions about this  - I think it's part of the donation process and so belongs on the donation page front and center.  Plus - no one really looks at the ack screen except to confirm the donation amount is correct and therefore ignores anything else that appears and most don't look at the email except to move it to a "keep" folder for when it's tax time.


But I thought I'd go to the experts...Thoughts?
