Tracking Gifts

I am new to RE and come from the Tessitura world. In Tessitura we use to have source codes that could track each mailing that went out and we could see the results of each mailing by pulling that source code (a 5 digit unique code that fell under the appeal and campaign) I am not a DBO but am tasked with doing some DBO stuff in my new organization and know enough to get me in trouble ha! What in RE would resemble a source code that I can add to a pledge form to track when we get the pledge form back?

"Appeals" are the RE equivalent you're looking for. Appeals can also be segmented into "Packages."

Thank you!! Can you load a list into RE and assign the appeal and package to the list and then track that list as gifts come in and pull that list to see who on the list gave and who hasnt?

You have to create the Appeal and Packages for each Appeal in RE before you import your list. Once those exist in RE then you can use Import to Constituent Appeal records. There are Appeals (like Campaigns and Funds) and Constituent Appeals (one record for every Constituent you solicited). When all the data is in RE correctly there are very useful canned reports that show how well the solicitation performed. You can even add your expenses to the Appeal record and the reports will analyze the performance based on cost.
