Double Opt-in funtion

Options
We currently have a system in place to confirm someone's email address when they sign up but it's wonky and not a true double opt-in function. Does anyone know if there is a function where the email is not added to the system until they confirm through an email link?  Most email marketing tools have this option.

Luminate has double-opt in functionality built in. There is a general description in the Help files and a Knowledgebase article with detailed instructions.

Let me know how it goes!
  • Wonderful Erik! I will try it out and let you know how it goes.
  • The help article recommends two-factor authentication. We have a version of this implemented (and I believe you helped me with this a few years ago) but are missing the 'Automatic Registration' autoresponder from Setup. I've contacted support on that. Just wondering why two-factor is recommended over double opt-in.
  • The double opt-in only works for one type of registration which is if a constituent registers from the login page like this:
    1. Go here: http://act.autismspeaks.org/site/UserLogin
    2. Click Register
    3. Complete the fields and click Register
I learned this in a support ticket earlier this year.

That is why two-step verification is the recommended solution.

    Thanks,

    Phil
  • Gotcha, that makes sense.

Phil -- that's right. Here's the details in the help documentation:

How do these work in Luminate Online?

In Luminate Online, the double opt-in feature applies only to new users who want to register on your site using a specific site registration. Use the recommended two-step verification process for TeamRaiserSurveyDonation FormCalendar Event, or Advocacy.
