How do you handle Opt-Outs? These folks are unsubscribed from EVERYTHING.

Options
We are having quite a few people opting out of our emails from query lists.

I asked a BBNC IT Support person if that means they opt out of everything, or just the list we have them on for that particular email. Bad news, it's EVERYTHING.

How do you handle opt-outs?

Wouldn't it be great if people could go to a "manage your subscriptions" page instead? (Unfortunately NetCommunity does not offer this).

  • We don't have accounts for users in NetCommunity. With each of our emails, we include links to our privacy policy, our foundation(s) and Email preferences which allow them to do the following:

We would like to be able to communicate with you via email about upcoming events, campaigns and stories of impact. Please fill out the form below to join our email list. If you already receive our emails and wish to opt-out, you can do that here as well. If you are unsubscribing, you must include your email address so that we can find all instances of your email address.

    I prefer mail, not email.

The drop downs for each of those "Email" choices above have three choices: email, written letter or opt out of everything. We tend to email them back and ask if we are not certain about their opt out choice.

  • Hi Amy,

I just searched for your idea to manage subscriptions on the https://community.blackbaud.com/products/netcommunity/ideas page and couldn't find it.  If you want to get your idea out there so others can vote on it, please create your own, then come back to this forum with the link to promote your idea.

Please let me know if this is helpful or if you have other questions.

    In harmony,

    Elizabeth

  • Greg, that sounds like a perfect solution.  Thank you!

  • Great solution! I will start investigating this one!

    Hi Amy,

If you find that Greg Milton‍ 's answer works for you.  Would you please click the grey button under his reply that reads "Mark as Best Answer".  This way when others search the same issue as you, they know what worked for you!

Thank you Greg Milton‍ for your peer help!

I am looking at both of these solutions with my team, and will do that once we select a direction forward.

  • This is exactly the problem we are having.

If you have more info on this, it would be great to continue the conversation.
