RE Export to Excel Settings

I am encountering an annoying problem with Excel that I think is related to the default settings that Raiser's Edge uses in Export. I am guessing here, because I don't know how to fix it!


Excel 2016 automatically creates a backup copy of spreadsheets whenever I save or edit a workbook. In 2016, this can be turned off on a workbook-by-workbook basis is the "save as" options box. However, this option is defaulted to "on" in files that I export from Raiser's Edge. It is NOT defaulted to "on" for files that I create on my own, download from the cloud, save from emails, etc.


Is Raiser's Edge using a set of Excel defaults that I can change to have the backup feature default to "off"?
