Hi all, working in an educational institution and was wondering how all of you go about pulling/creating the parent string for addressee and listing purposes. When I say parent string, I mean this:

John and Jane Smith have 2 children that went to the school: Jim Smith in the class of 99 and Judy smith in the class of 2004. They also have one child, Jerry Smith, who didn't go to the school.

Their Parent string is P '04, 99

Their Listing is John and Jane Smith P '04, 99


What are the best ways you have found to create that Parent string using query, export, or any other tools?

    We have created an attribute and use that all the time for all mailings, reports and exports! It's really handy, the only caveat being it needs to be updated when anything changes and every time a new student joins for an existing family.
