Wee query problem from a beginner

Options
Hey all,

I'm fairly new to RE, and still getting used to it all and this is probably a bit of a daft question; but...

I have been asked to build a query that will get collect memberships that will expire 6 weeks from the day they are run so as to allow us to remind members to renew their membership. I have had a look on the query tools and can find various was of getting close to what I want, but nothing is quite perfect.

I've been looking for an option for something along the lines of (Current Expiry date equals less than 6 weeks from today), Ideally we don't want to enter custom dates every-time we run the query.

Any help at all is appreciated..

Many thanks!

  • Hi Jack! Have you heard of an "ask" query? You can have the system ask you what custom dates you want every time you run the query. It's a good fail-safe to remind you that you need to change the dates.
  • Welcome to RE Jack!   Have you looked at the Membership reports?  They are found under Reports>Membership Reports>

I've found that the reports do not always perform exactly as I need, but can be used or tweaked,  to make do.

Perhaps the Expired Membership Report would solve your issue?  The main parameter "Include Memberships that Expired Within these Dates",  can be set to look forward to Next Quarter or Next Month, or Next year.   You could also Include a query for the particular membership group you might need and save/name for that particular group.

I've not used this particular report, but it may suit you.

  • If you can make it one of the calculated date ranges in RE then you can avoid entering specific dates, otherwise you'll have to enter something manually every time the Query is run.  As KaLeigh Hurley‍ suggested, using <ask> can make it easier.

  • Thanks for all the help guys, We've found the 'ask' operator to be just what we were looking for.

Thanks for all the help and it's much appreciated!
