Editable Constituent Reports

Options
I'm fairly new to my org and recently my coworker (campaign manager) told me that when she does a donor report, she copies and pastes from RE into a Word document. Copies. Pastes. Yes, you read that right. I was appalled and am now determined to find a suitable solution for her because in 2018, that is unacceptable to me.

The tricky parts is she wants all relevant notes. Unfortunately, the note type table is a DISASTER so I can't just pull from a few note types; we basically need all note types from all years. She then needs to edit through those and remove any irrelevant or duplicate information. She also wants to be able to add other notes from other sources, etc. That being said, we need to use Word so it can be edited.

I tried doing a Word merge through RE but it was a bit cumbersome and it kept telling me that the max number of fields to merge is 61. Was that user error or is that a real thing?

Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • Hi Amanda-

"it kept telling me that the max number of fields to merge is 61. Was that user error or is that a real thing?"

That's a real thing. See Blackbaud's KB over here. Here's the same question on the Microsoft boards. If you want to get around that limit and include more fields, you'll have to Export to CSV/XLS and do the merge outside of Raiser's Edge.

  • See what cleanup you can do in the Notes type table - check out the Table Cleanup button when you're looking at the table.  If you have, for example, "Gift Note" and "GiftNotes," Table Cleanup can help you combine by replacing one with the other, or both with something new.  Doing this with Table Cleanup also globally replaces it through your whole RE database.
