Gift Detail and Summary Report -- Gift Type

Options
Hi All,

I am trying to edit a gift detail report to include "gift type" as one of the columns. I see that "gift subtype" is an available field but "gift type" is missing. Does anyone know the logic? Is there a way to include gift type?

Best,

Jackie

  • hi Jackie... for our organization, we separate the gift types by column... maybe this could work for you. Column one = Pledges, Column two = payments, column 3 = cash, etc. etc.

Not sure what Gift Type you want to include but Gift detail only looks at monies received. You can't include pledges if that's what you want.
  • Hey Jennifer,

Thanks for quick response! We also separate the gift types by column when the report view is "summarized" by campaign, fund, appeal. I am hoping there is also a way to include gift type when the report view is "Detail" because I would like to see each gift on a line with (campaign, fund, appeal, gift date, batch number, gift ID) and Gift Type so I can check that gifts are entered correctly. I see Gift Subtype is available but I don't see Gift Type...
  • We use the gift detail and summary report to review how cash is being processed, as a way to cross reference and check data entry. The reason why I want to see gift type is to make sure stocks are being properly processed.

Stock should be an option. I have a 'stock' column in my report.
  • Hi Jackie-

Printing the Gift Type in a Gift Detail and Summary report is not an option, but I can think of two others.

One option is to use Query, but of course that comes with risks such as split gifts, data duplication, etcetera.

Another option is to include Gift Id in the report, export the report to CSV, and then use VLOOKUP in Excel to add the Gift Types into your spreadsheet. If you don't have any experience with VLOOKUP, there are plenty of YouTube videos that cover the basics.
