When downloading the donation transactions - constituent information being overwritten

Hi, having trouble when trying to download donations via online express - if the constituent has entered name for example in lower case, even though I choose not to upload/update those fields when processing - the existing RE data is being overwritten by the incoming online express form & I have to manually correct once the batch has been created. 

Am also getting an error when the phone or mobile is existing but in a different format (i.e. without spaces) "duplicate phone number & phone type exists. remove the duplicate to save the record.  Would you like to update the constituent manually? Selecting 'No' will roll back updates and continue"  

If I select yes - to manually change the data - i get error 'Object variable or Width block variable not set'  then the next error is 'undefined RE error' which I then have to manually close the constituent profile.

Has anyone else had this type of error?

    It sounds like you have a couple issues happening at the same time.  For data being overwritten, you have to do one step beyond "rejecting" the information. After you have reviewed the information and you go to download, an additional window appears - go to the "Options" tab and under "Transaction Profile Data" choose the option "Reject Profile Information."  This will ensure that the information you have previously rejected through reviewing the constituent information in OLX, is actually rejected.


    The "Duplicate Phone Number/Type" error comes because there is likely already the same phone type that you are trying to enter into the constituent record when downloading.  To make this error stop appearing, you can go to Config > Business Rules > Constituent Options > Phone/email options.  There are options to prevent saving a record when there is a duplicate phone type on it. I have currently have it set to "Display warning", you should be able to just ignore the warning and continue with the save.  You could also set it as "Save record anyway" and the warning should not appear at all.


    The Error codes "Object variable or width block variable not set" and "undefined RE error" is usually a sign you need to log completely out of RE and Citrix (if hosted), wait a few minutes and log back.  Hopefully, if you system is currently preventing records with duplicate phone types from being saved and you change the protocol in the system, these errors will not appear as often.

The idea Blackbaud needs to make our selections "sticky" so we can consistently reject the changes in Online Express, without having them overwritten by Online Express's transaction options, as well as have the same options for downloading the transactions to a batch each time.     This suggestion is a very good one and totally sensible. Our challenge is that we have a really long list of great Online Express ideas that have been submitted but we're also well down the path of shipping more modern/scalable, web-based capabilities natively in RE NXT that will ultimately obsolete what Online Express does today in the database view of RE7. We're not stopping work on Online Express but we're committed to delivering those web capabilities as quickly as possible. So you won't see as many of the Online Express suggestions materialize in Online Express. But we're ABSOLUTELY taking those great suggestions into consideration as we progress the next gen versions of email marketing, online giving, event registration and membership management.
