Query on An Appeal Attribute - A (Poorly Written) Poem

Options
Dearest Blackbaud,

How are you? Oh, I've been fine...

Can you spare a minute to read these few lines?

We love Raiser's Edge and we use it all day,

But there are a few things that make us cray-cray.

The UI is good and the reporting is nice.

With exports and queries its well worth the price.

We're trying to move to your beloved NXT

Though we can't seem to get pricing - I'm sure it's just me.

Now with a new fiscal year there are reports to be made!

I know that you're busy and don't mean to throw shade...

But what I'm trying to say is:  I don't give a toot!

Just let me query on an appeal attribute!

We can create gift queries and giving filters on FUND attributes, which we use extensively.  But every fiscal year I'm asked to make a bunch of cool reports based on appeals and every fiscal year I have to explain to my upper management that Blackbaud doesn't allow us to query on all the attributes we built.  So there are lots of exports with external pivot tables and sometimes even a few Crystal Reports.  As far as I can tell this is a completely artificial limit on Blackbaud's part....

Yours faithfully,

-Tom

  • Do you mean in a constituent query when you query on assigned appeals? or in a gift query when you query on gift appeal? something else?

There are ways to query on appeal attributes, for example - in an appeal query, attributes are there. I think your request needs to be more specific about what you want because programmers will simply look at appeal query and think this request is just stupid because you can already query on appeal attributes.
  • love the poem Tom!
