Importing deceased constituents with some decesed dates

Options
I am importing a group of about 300 constituents in order to mark them all as deceased. Some of the constituents have a deceased date. When I attempt to validate the data before the official import, I get the following error message.

"Validation error: The deceased field must be set to true if a deceased date is specified"

Has anyone else gotten this error before?

Thanks!

I haven't imported deceased info but am guessing it's related to the field "Deceased" which would be required. This is one knowledgebase article that might help.

  • Hi Joann,

Yes, I’m using both the Deceased (yes/no)
field and the deceased date. Thanks for your input J !

  • Hi Troy-

Can you post a screenshot of your import file that shows the Deceased column and values in that column? I just tested the import file you see below and successfully updated the Deceased checkbox and Deceased Date:

  • Hi Aaron,

Some more background... the reason I was doing this import was to switch the main constituent to the spouse because the main constituent is deceased but the spouse is still living. So the columns there are the constituent spouse deceased and deceased date. I've tried using "yes/no" instead of "True/False" as well.

  • Try doing an import with just one person and see it it works when not in validate mode.

Validate will give occasional false errors when it is doing things not in the order RE needs to pass all of the verification steps. It happens sometimes with some sub-records (can't add info to a sub record when the initial record does not exist yet, etc.) so I think this may also be your issue. A live test with one record may help determine if this is what is happening.
  • Looks like that may have been the issue Melissa. I took out the constituent deceased and the constituent deceased date (I didn't need those anyways because they are all living) and that seemed to do the trick!

    Thanks everyone.
