track short codes

Is there any way to track short codes with PDFs like we can with donations? I have a short code set up for a PDF: www.nativepartnership.org/foodnews9. I used a source code and subsource on the URL like http://www.nativepartnership.org/site/DocServer/2017-PWNA-SWIRC-Health-n-Nutrition.pdf?docID=7290&s_subsrc=foodnews9&s_src=DMSOP, but I'm not finding any way to see results based on either. I can see the downloads, but it doesn't differentiate between different short codes.

Hi Alicia -

Loading a PDF from an absolute URL isn't rendering a pagewrapper or element with the necessary code blocks to fire analytics or session tracking.

You can fake some of this is a meta-refresh - example configuration: http://www.nativepartnership.org/downloadpdf --> /PageServer?pagename=download_redirect&s_src=xyz&s_subsrc=abc (page fires GA and sets Session tags, page contains meta refresh 1-second delay) --> http://www.nativepartnership.org/site/DocServer/2017-PWNA-SWIRC-Health-n-Nutrition.pdf?docID=7290

Alternatively, you can have a landing page with a link to download the PDF and add Google Analytics event tracking to the Download button.
