RENXT Tracking Grants Using Opportunity Tab

Options
Hi Friends,

We are in the process of cleaning up and re organizing assigned solicitors, and then ultimately updating and using consistently the opportunity tab.  In review of how we will accomplish this, we identified that our grants are currently being tracked using GrantHub.  Its a great resource to keep all grants organized and at a quick glance have a summary of whats been applied for, pending, etc.  the downside is that when we run a report of opportunities in RE7 or RENXT, grants will not be included.  We do not use Financial Edge.  Does anyone else have a best practice or has customized the opportunity drop downs so that you can include grant data?  We currently only add a record for a grant if we are awarded the money.

    Hi Beth,

I wondered the same thing when I took the NXT course on Friday and forgot to ask the instructor.  I'll send her an email and get back to you.

We use the Opportunities for ALL of our agreements, including Grants. The Opportunity is filled out the same with the Assigned Solicitor. So the Assigned Solicitor helps determine in any reports which were grants. You could add Grant to the Instrument block in the Opportunity too.

    Hello

We do some of our Tracking in RE with proposals for Grants mainly just the awarded ones though

    In a proposal

    Set the Purpose as "Grant"

Put in the fund the grant money will go to

Instrument shows what type of Grant or type of grantor it is  State, Private, Federal or Corporate

The Amount Expected it the awarded amount

The amount funded is each disbursement linked to the Proposal (that is a harder one to manage)

The name of the grant must be set to what the award was for and the year it was awarded as some times a grantor will have multiple grants and it just makes it easier to track and link gifts

    Hope this help

    Mike

    Hi Beth,

Here is the response I received from my webinar instructor:  "You can definitely keep tracking those foundation proposals in the NXT webview. Proposal terminology corresponds to the “Opportunities” in the web view. The Opportunities have the same fields and manner of tracking proposals as the database view does. People can keep track of the opportunities they’re managing through their Work Center, opportunities can be added in the web view and the Analyze area has a great tab for monitoring the whole organization’s opportunities. "

Since we haven't migrated yet to NXT, I can't picture exactly what this looks like, but have an idea from the test databases we've been using on the webinars.  We track our proposals through the Prospect Tab and Proposal section, so this should transfer over to NXT.
