Donor head count Crystal report

I'm not super experienced with Crystal. So please bear with me.

I'd like to include a head count by month in my Crystal report. I have exported Con ID, SC Con Id, Gift ID and SC Flag and grouped the report by month.

The data in SC Flag only shows 3 "Regular gifts" ? -spouse soft credit?

I also have gifts where an Org received the hard credit and multiple Individuals were soft credited. Shouldn't they show up with some value in the Flag field as well?

I want to count Individual heads without duplication.

Lets say SC recipient "X" gives in January and then again in March I want to count him once in January.

If Org "X" was hard credited and "Y" an "Z' were soft credited I want to include "Y" as 1 and "Z" as 1 but not the Org "X".

When I run everything with HC only (and count Orgs as one) the running total works, but how do I add up the gifts with multiple SC recipients + Constituents without SC?

    Hm, seems like no one responded.


    First of all regarding the soft credits, if you run your export with the gifts credited to soft credit, with the amount in grid as the distribution to use, it should work-- it'll only show Y and Z, but not the hard credit org X.  Are you using the soft credit flag? Why bother exporting it?


    The count of donors only in their first month given will be a little tougher in Crystal. Are you doing total giving as well?  Because if you're not and you're strictly doing a donor count, you could actually change your export to export the first gift for the time period you specify, instead of all giving.

    James, Thank You so much for your response. I figured out the SC issue. I had the underlying query not set to run by sc. blush

    For the Donor count, exporting the first gift only is a great advice. I have to count the donor when he gives his largest gift in the time period. So I'll do largest gift then.
